Zenaida Acevedo

Zenaida “Yaya” Acevedo of Napanoch, NY passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the age of 71. Zenaida was born on June 5th, 1951 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to the late Concepcion Fernandez and Ramiro Acevedo.

Zenaida was a hard worker and displayed that in all aspects of her life. Over the course of her career, she worked for Channel Master, Imperial Schrade and Hydro Aluminum. She also drove for Abe’s Taxi Service in Ellenville, NY and was a home health aide with Anytime Home Care. She was also an active member of St. Mary’s and St. Andrew’s Church, where she devoted her time and efforts to various church functions. 

Zenaida was a beloved family member and friend to those who knew her and was a source of light, laughter, and love to those around her. She is survived by her son, Jose Vargas (Sandra Conklin) of Kerhonkson; her brothers Gregorio Acevedo (Lourdes), Wenceslao Acevedo (Milagros), and Ignacio Acevedo (Marta); her sister Carmen Gonzalez (Angelo); and many beloved nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 14th, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 15th at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s and St. Andrew’s Church in Ellenville, with the burial at Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville to follow.
