Wilma J. Muller passed away on December 16, 2013 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, NY at the age of 99. She was born November 9, 1914 in Debstedt, Germany, one of 11 children. She was the daughter of Johann and Gesine (Mehrens) Edebohls, and the widow of Albert Muller.
Wilma attended culinary school as a young girl in Germany and always loved to cook for her family. Wilma and Albert owned a delicatessen in Queens before moving to Cragsmoor in the 1940's, where they ran a boarding house, Muller's Valley View Inn. She was the manager of the luncheonette at Woolworth's in Ellenville when they first opened in the 1960's, and later worked at the lunch counter in Richie's prior to her retirement. Wilma was an avid gardener, and also enjoyed many crafts. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Ellenville.
Wilma is survived by her children: Ernest Muller and his wife, Lucy, of Cragsmoor; Neil Muller and his wife, Jane, of Ellenville; Alice Hartigan of Largo, FL; and Marlene Blume and her husband, Edward, of Kingston; her sister, Marlene Lauenroth of Long Island; her grandchildren, Kerry Moose, Scott & Richard Shumanski, James Countryman, Kevin Miedema, Julie Barone, and Christina Muller, as well as 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be held on Friday, December 20th from 10am – 12pm with a celebration of her life immediately following at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville. Burial will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in Wilma’s name to the Christ Lutheran Church, 105 Center St., Ellenville, NY 12428.
