Williemae Grant

Williemae Grant of Ellenville, N.Y. went home to her Lord on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. She was 76 years old. Born on December 28, 1946 in Parkers Ferry, SC; she was the daughter of the late Rev. Isreal Grant and Ruth (Frazier) Grant.

Williemae worked as a housekeeper for Louis and Mildred Resnick for 38 years, but she was so much more than just a domestic.  Their family became family in every sense of the word.  I believe the love that binds has nothing to do with blood.  In addition to this she was the loving mother to her only daughter Tanya Allen who describes her mother as her hero, her greatest champion and her best friend. Williemae was a faithful servant of God and a prayer warrior who would reach out a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the President of the Missionary Ministry and was also a newly ordained Deacon. In her downtime Willimae enjoyed knitting, cooking (Southern Kosher flare) and singing.

In addition to her daughter, Tanya Allen, Williemae is survived by her sisters, Claudia Green (Willie Sr.) and Matilda Smalls (Albert); her brothers, Arthur Lee Grant, Toney Grant and McArthur Grant (Margaret); her special nephew, Lenard Grant (Angela), Aunts, Nieces, Nephews; dear friends, Shirley Logan, Dorothy Hill, Rev. Carl Dixon, Rev. Julius Collins and Roxann Hart.

Willimae was preceded in death by her siblings, Douglas Grant, Arnold Frazier, Sr., Pinzola Ravenal, Pimble Grant and the Rev. James Grant Sr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 4pm-7pm at Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville, N.Y. Home going services and burial will take place in South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Williemae’s name to the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Berme Road, Ellenville, NY.
