William “Bill” Lewis
August 2, 1937 – March 16, 2018
William “Bill” Lewis of Ellenville, NY, a retired tool and die maker for VAW of America, entered into rest on Friday, March 16, 2018. He was 80 years old.
The son of the late Clarence and Stasia (Vinchofsky) Lewis, he was born August 2, 1937 in Mahanoy City, PA.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Cathy in 2009.
Survivors include his daughter Donna Orquiz and her husband Dan of San Antonio, TX, his son Scott Lewis and his wife Maren of Scarsdale, NY and his grandchildren, whom he adored, Zachary, Andrew and Javin. his sister, Marie Baranoski of Ellenville, NY, his brother Richard Lewis and his wife Marge of Cary, NC.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, member of the American Legion Post 111, Past Exalted Ruler of BPOE 1971, Past Commissioner of the Ellenville Joint Fire District, Past President and 61-year member of the Pioneer Engine Company No. 1. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being in nature. He was a proud resident of the Ellenville community for over 60 years. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, March 20th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm with a funeral service on Wednesday, March 21st beginning at 10 am at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville. Burial will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to the Pioneer Engine Company at 73 Center Street, Ellenville, NY 12428 or the BPOE 1971 at P.O. Box 62, Napanoch, NY 12458
