Wayne Douglas Brown of Ellenville, NY, passed away in his sleep on Monday, May 2, 2022. He was 66 years old. Wayne was born on July 31, 1955 in Kingston, NY; he was the son of the late Arthur and Ida Brown.
Wayne graduated from Rondout Valley High School and had worked at Gateway Industries and Deyo Lumberyard. He lived in Ellenville for over 30 years at the Marks/Vaughan Family Care Home. He was fondly known around town as the “Village Mayor” and was an auxiliary police officer. Wayne enjoyed building model cars and Legos. He was an avid NASCAR fan and liked going to the Accord Speedway races. Wayne was a very gifted individual who could remember important dates and traits about people after only meeting them once. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond and Lawrence Brown and his sisters, Anna Hitchcock and Laura Cole.
Surviving are his brothers, John Brown of Hurley, NY, Allan Brown of Statesville, NC and Jeffrey Brown; his sisters, Joan Born of Statesville, NC, Florence Swartz and Sherry Benchic of Kingston, NY and Carol Kastanis of High Falls, NY; several nieces and nephews as well as his many friends at Marks/Vaughan Family Care Home, especially Deanna and Paulette and his best friend Charles Craft.
Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, May 9th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with a celebration of his life beginning at 6:30 pm at Loucks Funeral Home, Ellenville.
