Virginia D. Cleary of Ulster Heights, a retired bookkeeper for Schrade Knife Factory, died Tuesday, June 10th, at her daughter’s home in Portsmouth, VA. She was 87.
The daughter of the late Cornelius and Della Irwin, Virginia was born September 10, 1926 in Ellenville, NY. She was the widow of James G. Cleary, and a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church in Napanoch, NY.
Survivors include her brother, Lyle Irwin of Willow Spring, NC; her two sons: Michael Cleary of Panama City, FL and Richard Cleary of Salisbury, NC, and a daughter, Patricia Van Sleet of Portsmouth, VA. Virginia has seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was predeceased by her infant son, James C. Cleary; one sister, Edith Davis, and her twin brother, Vincent Irwin.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 15th at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main St., Ellenville, NY 12428. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16th; Rev. Michael Sparrow will officiate. Burial is to follow the service at Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.
