Vernell Crawley

Deaconess Vernell Crawley, age 90, was called to eternal rest, October 25, 2021, while residing at the Putnam Nursing Home in Holmes, NY. Vernell is at peace with God now and is now rejoicing in her heavenly home. We must not mourn as those without hope, for Vernell has gone to get the great reward promised to all who faithfully serve the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Vernell Crawley was born on October 24, 1931, in Newport News, VA to Andrew and Cornelia Harris Crawley. Vernell married Herman Crawley in March of 1958 and they moved to Ellenville, NY in the same year. Vernell became an active part of the community working and growing. She joined the Shiloh Baptist Church and participated in multiple positions excelling in each, quietly leading and working to make them work well. Vernell was predeceased by her son, Michael Crawley; brother and sister-in-law, William and Ethel Watson-Crawley.

She leaves to cherish her life and love: husband, Herman Crawley; brother-in-law, William Crawley (Arlene), Newport News, VA, Arnold Crawley, South Boston, VA; sisters in-law; Marie Thomas, South Boston, VA, Fanny Dunaway, Philadelphia, PA, Diane Russell (William), Philadelphia, PA; nephews, Kevin Thomas, Ellenville, NY, Armiche Crawley, South Boston, VA; niece, Rhonda Crawley-Williams (Paul), Brooklyn, NY; nephews, Bernard Crawley, Paterson, NJ, Robert Crawley, Jacksonville, FL, William Crawley (Joanne), Paterson NJ, Raymond Crawley, Dennis Crawley, Prospect Park, NJ, Kelvin Crawley (Dolores), Paterson, NJ, Randy Crawley (Kimberly), Orange, NJ.

Visiting will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Shiloh Baptist Church, 60 Berme Rd., Ellenville. A Celebration of her life will immediately follow at the church followed by burial at Fantinekill Cemetery.
