Terrie Wilkinson Hoar was born on August 18, 1931, in Middletown, N.Y. She was the daughter of Edward L. Wilkinson and Estella Smithem Wilkinson. Terrie graduated from Monticello High School and Dayton’s School of Business in Middletown N.Y. On September 18, 1949, she married Edwin E. Hoar Jr. in Wurtsboro.
Terrie is survived by her daughter Valerie Sherry (Joseph) of Ellenville, N.Y., sons Edwin E. Hoar III (Deborah) of South Carolina, Kyle David Hoar (Kathryn) of Grahamsville, N.Y. and Jonathan Brett Hoar (Kim) of Spring Glen, N.Y. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kaitlyn Sherry, Andrew Sherry (Austin), Brittany Osborne (Brandon), and Camryn Hoar as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews.
Terrie was predeceased by her husband, Edwin, her son, Kevin Edward Hoar, her sister Betty Lindsay, her brother Edward L. Wilkinson Jr., and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Hoar.
Terrie was a mother to more than just her children. She was the “neighborhood mother.” Maybe it was the chocolate chip cookies, or maybe it was because she was a strong, caring, loving person. Everyone knew they could play in our yard and were welcome in our house.
Terrie was a member of the Ellenville Methodist Church, the Ellenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary, the Wawarsing Chapter of the Eastern Star and a Trustee of the Fantinekill Cemetery. She was formerly a member of the Shawangunk Country Club, the Town of Wawarsing Chairman of the March of Dimes, the Town of Wawarsing Chairman of the Cancer Drive, Troop #28 Cub Scout Den Mother, the Secretary of the Town of Wawarsing Republican Party and a District #3 Republican Election Inspector.
The family would like to thank Ellenville Regional Hospital for their extraordinary care that our mother received over the last week of her life.
In lieu flowers donations may be made to the Ellenville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 591, Ellenville, N.Y. or a charity of your choice.
