Stanford “Dave” Miller of Spring Glen, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. He was 77 years old. Dave was born on October 12, 1943 in Franklin, NC; he was the son of the late David Ray and Flora E. (Krom) Miller.
Dave proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He earned the rank of Airman Second Class and was honorably discharged in 1965. On August 25, 1978, Dave married Mary (Carito) Miller in Ellenville.
Dave was a Master Carpenter having worked in construction for many years. He also served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Ulster County Sheriff's Department. More recently he was the Assistant Supervisor of the Orange County Golf Course and oversaw the daily activities at several other golf courses in the area. Dave was a marksman and won several awards for his trap shooting skills. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time outdoors whenever possible. Dave was also a community man, the type of person who never knew a stranger, above all he loved the time spent with his family.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his wife Mary; their daughters, Danielle Bufalo and her husband Andrew of Chester, NY; Lindsey Haener and her husband Brandon of Las Vegas, NV and siblings, Bonnie Ronning of Venice, FL, Edward Miller (April) of De Land, FL and Steven Miller (Denise) of Emporium, PA; grandchildren, Olivia Casteel, Charlotte Haener and Caiden Haener, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his sister, Diane.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 21st from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of his life will begin at 6:30pm followed by military honors at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville.
A celebratory gathering to honor his memory will be held at a later date.
