Sheila Jean Distel

Sheila Jean Distel of Ellenville passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was 71.
She was the daughter of the late Frank and Kathleen Clinton Hoff, born on June 14, 1941 in Catskill, NY.
Sheila was an avid reader and a local Librarian at Ellenville Public Library for many years. She liked to discuss politics and donate to the United States Military. She loved animals dearly and donated often to many different animal charities. Her cat, Cleo, was her pride and joy and she loved her dearly. She enjoyed traveling and would go to Florida for the winters with her husband. She found enjoyment in gardening, and spring tulips were her favorite flowers. Sheila was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to all that knew and loved her; she will be deeply missed.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Ken Distel; her loving son, Kevin Distel and his fiance, Beth McCawley of NJ; her sister, Kathleen Hoff-Duffy and her husband, Jim of New Jersey; her cousin, Dr. Barbara MacMullen of Kingston, and several cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was predeceased by one son, Paul Distel.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 18, at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY 12428 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 19, at St. Mary's St. Andrews Church, 209 State Route 209, Ellenville, NY at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville, NY.
