Ronald A. Irwin

Ronald (Ron) A. Irwin passed away on March 15, 2023, in Melbourne FL. Ron was born to Francis D. and Julia Allees Irwin on October 1, 1948, in Ellenville, NY. Ron was a lifetime resident of Napanoch, NY, and, more recently, Melbourne, FL. He graduated from Ellenville high school in 1966 and later taught there, retiring in 2005.  

Ron received his A.A.S. from SUNY at Cobleskill, his B.S. at Central Connecticut State, and his M.S.E.D. at Mount St. Mary College in Newburg, NY. 

Ron served his community in many ways, including in his roles as an Ulster County Legislator (District 1), Town of Warwarsing Board Member, Ellenville First Aid and Rescue Squad member, Ulster Sullivan Mediation Board Member and trained Mediator, Christ Lutheran Church Council member and Congregational President and Activity Club member, Ellenville Warwarsing Youth Commission member, Noonday Club member, Ellenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary Board Member and 2012 Auxilian of the Year, Town of Warwarsing Republican Committeeman and Chairman, Ellenville High School SADD Advisor and Advisor to Student Council classes of 1988, 1997, and 2005, AFS Volunteer and host to many foreign exchange students, Shawangunk Senior Center Board Member, Ellenville Central School Retirees Association President and Secretary, D&H Canal Steering Committee member, Napanoch Public Interest Group member, Town of Warwarsing Environmental Conservation Commission member, Gamma Delta Iota Fraternity brother. 

Ron is survived by brothers Dennis F. Irwin and his wife Esther, and Kirk Irwin and his wife Kristy; nieces Sara Deppe and her husband Kevin, Taylor Irwin, and Mary Esther Ellenburg and her husband Paul; nephews Dennis A. Irwin and his wife Amanda, and George Rodriguez and his wife Mayra; great nieces Julia and Gracyn; and great nephews Braeden and Chase. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Julia Irwin. 

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 5^th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville, NY. A Memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 6^th at Christ Lutheran Church, 105 Center St., Ellenville, followed by burial at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery.
