Roger W. Fredenburgh Jr. of Napanoch entered peacefully into rest on October 12, 2024. A lifelong resident of the area, he was born in Kingston on October 24, 1947 to his late parents Roger and Caroline (Port) Fredenburgh. After his father’s untimely passing when Roger was a teen, he spent a lot of time at Smith Brother’s Garage, forming a lifetime connection with and becoming a part of the Smith family.
Roger served in the Army during the Vietnam War, then returned home to begin a storied career. After 27 years with the NYS Department of Corrections, he retired from his final position as Deputy Superintendent of Administration at Ulster Correctional Facility. Roger enjoyed playing fast pitch and modified softball, participating in leagues in Ellenville and Middletown and qualifying and playing in the national tournament several times.
Next came the golf industry phase where he enjoyed playing as much as he enjoyed working at a number of courses including the Nevele, Hudson Valley Resort, Fallsview, Lynx, Lochmor and Tarry Brae. At all of these places he made many friends and left a lasting impression.
His passing leaves an unimaginable void in the lives of those around him: his beloved companion Linda, at home; his children: Kimberly Costa (Fernando), Stacey Fredenburgh, Ronald Fredenburgh, Daniel Fredenburgh; his grandchildren: Colby, Jordan and Craig Costa, Virginia Frear, Terri Porter, Shyanne DeJesus and Adina Fredenburgh; his sisters Carol Perry and Christine Fredenburgh and his niece Courtney.
A celebration of life will take place on October 27th at Unity Hall, 755 Berme Rd Napanoch, NY 12458 with service beginning at 2pm. We hope you will join us in sharing your stories and honoring this truly wonderful man who left us far too soon but left behind so many wonderful memories.
Donations in his name may be made to your favorite charity.
