Robert Mr. T. Tompkins

Robert "Mr. T" Tompkins of Ellenville, NY passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at home. He was 81.    
He was the son of the late Anna and Clarence Tompkins, born on September 10, 1932 in Scranton, PA.
Robert proudly served our country in the United States Army as a Sergeant. He was a graduate of the University of Scranton where he was a star basketball player. Robert moved to New York State in the 1960's to being his teaching career. He proudly taught and coached many generations of students at Ellenville High School. He continued his love of teaching and desire to be productive, by tutoring for the Pine Bush School District until the last few weeks of his life. His passion were watching and discussing sports, going to the movies and writing weekly letters to his friends and relatives. He loved his cars and took meticulous care of them.
Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved and dedicated sister Betty Clarke and her husband, Edward, of Walden, his brother Barry and his adored wife Sandra Tompkins many nieces and nephews of three generations and cherished friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Jack, Erwin, Bill and Harold Tompkins.
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY 12428 from 2-4:00 & 7-9:00pm. There will be a graveside service on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Abington Hills Cemetery, 800 Morgan Hwy., South Abington Township, PA at 1:00pm.
