Robert J. Thayer

Robert Joseph Thayer Jr. "Bobby" of Claryville, NY, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Orange Regional Medical Center with his family by his side. He was 59 years old. Robert was born on April 17, 1956 in Suffern, NY; he was the son of Robert and Nancy Thayer Sr. of Pine Bush, NY and the late Evelene (Warner) Thayer.

Robert had worked for Imperial Schrade as a master knife maker until its closing. He was a member of the Elks #1971, the NRA and the Buck Horn Hunting Club. He also enjoyed hunting and gardening. 

On December 29, 1984 Robert married Lori (Foncree) Thayer. It was recorded the hottest day on record and everyone in attendance knew that there love would last. Robert was known for his calm demeanor and he kept Lori grounded. He was a wonderful person and a loyal friend to many.

In addition to his wife Lori, Robert is survived by his children; Allison Thayer of Oswego, Zachary Thayer of Mabank, TX and niece Tiffani Foncree of Claryville, his brother; John Thayer of Ellenville, his sisters; Kimberlee Morley and her husband Edward of Bloomingburg and Cheryl Ann Brundage and her husband Gary of Mt Upton, NY, his mother-in-law; Myrna Foncree and brother-in-law Mark Foncree of Napanoch, sister-in-law; Trudi Foncree and her wife Lisa Cook of Arlington, TX, many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Hazel.

Robert was predeceased by his sister Diane Thayer Hetzel and his father-in-law Jerry Foncree.

Visiting will be held on Tuesday, September 8th  from 2-4 and 6-8pm with a prayer service at 3pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville, NY. A funeral service is scheduled for 7pm that evening. Cremation will be private.
