He was born May 19, 1933 to Raymond Rosakranse and Jeanette (nee) Santifort, in Ellenville, NY and died January 10, 2015 at his home of 50 years in Accord, NY; Mr. Rosakranse was 81 upon his death.
"Bob" Rosakranse was truly a self-made man. He founded Rosakranse Masonry in the late 1960s and worked on the construction of many local municipal buildings, schools and residences. In 1974, he began The Revenue Markets, Inc., a toll collection systems business that has had its toll systems installed in many roads across the country including the Golden Gate Bridge, NYS Thruway, and LAX Los Angeles Airport. He was an entrepreneur to the fullest. He purchased and restored the historic Hasbrouck House, along with returning the Stone Ridge Orchard to a productive local agricultural staple. He was a founding member of the Rondout Valley Country Club.
Bob was well-known and loved by many in the community for his generosity and sharp wit. Throughout his life, he donated generously of his time and resources to many organizations and local institutions. An avid world traveler, his passion for travel brought him to over 100 countries. He loved to travel with his family, notably to Southeast Asia, Greece, India and Britain. He loved horticulture and spent many hours after the work day absorbed in his gardens.
He married his love, Eleanor Catherine Smith, of Milton, NY in July of 1953, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary shortly before Eleanor’s death on January 12, 2005. Mr. Rosakranse was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Rosakranse of Green Cove Springs, FL and his sister, Alma Rosakranse, of Chapel Hill, NC.
He is survived by his children: Suzanne R. Hauspurg of Stone Ridge, NY; Lisa Rosakranse of Kerhonkson, NY; Steven Rosakranse of Kerhonkson, NY; Christine Rosakranse of Palo Alto, CA; and seven grandchildren: Lindsey and Shaye Arnold, Nathan and Sam Hauspurg, and Alden, Emily and Liam Rosakranse; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Lillian Hall-Davis, his companion of 10 years.
A visitation will be held at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, January 14. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 am on Thursday, January 15, Rev. Jay Vogelaar officiating. A burial will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery.
