Robert Edward Nixon, “Bobby” of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. He was 73 years old. Robert was born on June 2, 1945 in New York City; he was the son of the late David J. and Magary (Jones) Nixon.

Robert retired after working 25 years as a Maintenance Technician at Bartow High School in Bartow, FL. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, swimming, playing baseball and watching sports, as well as, National Geographic.  

Survivors include his daughters, Yolanda Nixon of Bronx, NY, Robin Martin of New Port, VA and Summer Nixon of Ellenville, NY; his siblings, Magary Blythe and her husband Gerard of Poughkeepsie, NY, Phyllis Young and her husband Charlie of Napanoch, NY, Valerie Laurel of Fallsburgh, NY,  Deborah Barnes of Ellenville, NY, Lisa Nixon of Charlotte, NC, Vanessa Nixon of Ellenville, NY, Benjamin Johnson of Chicago, IL and Preston W. Nixon of Bartow, FL; six grandchildren, Chantis, Nicholas, Navon, Naijahe, Zacha and Sanaa; five great grandchildren; his former wives Maggie Nixon and Earthia Nixon.  A devoted companion Evelyn Moore.  As well as, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  

In addition to his parents Robert was predeceased by his brothers, David James Nixon, Thomas Marvin Nixon and Eugene Johnson.

Visiting will be held on Thursday, July 12th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the New Testament Church of Jesus Christ, 39 Clinton Ave. , Ellenville. A home going service will immediately follow. The Rev. Raymond Younger will officiate. Burial will be in Fantinekill Cemetery.
