Richard Leroy Minkler

Richard Leroy Minkler of Napanoch passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was 79.

He was the son of the late Louis and Carrie Loretta Brink Minkler, born on September 27, 1934 in Kingston, New York.

Richard proudly served our county in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. For many years he worked as a manager at Channel Master, VAW and Hydro. He loved nature and everything it had to offer including hunting and fishing. He would often be found fixing something; there was always a project he was working on. He liked to help people and lend a helping hand to anyone in need even strangers. He loved any kind of conversation especially the good ones and he always had an opinion. He had a real sweet tooth particularly for ice cream and he always put his family first. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friends to all that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his devoted wife for over 37 years Betty Minkler, his children Michele LaMagna and her husband Daniel of PA., and Lori German of NJ., his grandchildren Brayden LaMagna, Andrew and William German, his great grandchildren Molly and Lucy German, his brothers Louis Minkler and Fred Minkler both of NC., one nephew Neil VanBuren of Ellenville and one niece Jennifer Trachtenberg.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street Ellenville, NY 12428 from 2-4:00pm; with a funeral service to follow at the funeral home at 4:00pm. Interment will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Forest Hills Cemetery, Dunmore, PA., at 10:00am.
