Richard J. Exner

Richard J. Exner of Ellenville passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY with his loving family by his side.  He was 80. He was the son of late Richard and Jenny Exner, born October 30, 1936 in Ellenville, NY.

For many years he worked at the Ellenville post office as a postman. When he left there he began working as a Correctional Officer at Woodbourne Correctional Facility until his retirement. He loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible.

He is survived by two daughters, Gail Brearley and her husband James, Lisa Bush and her husband Steven both of Napanoch; one sister Ruth Bevier of North Carolina, two brothers Donald Exner of Ellenville and William Exner of Florida; three granddaughters, six great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Richard will be reunited with his loving wife of 45 years, Devereline Exner and his brother Francis Exner in heaven. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.  

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY 12428. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 1:00pm with Rev. Jay Vogeelar officiating. Cremation will be at the privacy of the family.
