Rhoda Theeman Stern Moss, 82, of Ellenville, New York, died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at the Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida. She was born on January 18, 1931 the daughter of Gertrude and Joseph Theeman.
Known for her kindness, thoughtfulness and passion, Rhoda was always happiest around her family and friends.
After graduating from Bryant College in Rhode Island, she met Irwin M. Stern in Napanoch, New York. They married and moved to Ellenville, New York where they raised their two daughters, Rena and Susan. Rhoda went back to college while raising a young family to earn a Master’s Degree in Education from SUNY College at New Paltz. She taught elementary education at Ellenville Central School District for 30 years. Rhoda was well known for her beautiful clothes which she made herself, for her cooking and entertaining, Sisterhood, and many volunteer organizations. After retirement, Irwin and Rhoda moved to Boca Raton, Florida.
Rhoda is survived by her second husband, Irwin Moss, two daughters, Rena Rothman and Susan Leventoff, three grandchildren, Melinda Rothman, Jenna Leventoff and Steven Leventoff, two sons-in-law, Jeffrey Rothman and Alan Fine, sister-in-law, Norma Dickman, as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews.
There will be a Memorial Service at Ezrath Israel, 35 Canal Street, in Ellenville, New York at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013. Burial will follow at Ezrath Israel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice by the Sea, 1531 West Palmetto Park, Boca Raton, Florida 33486.
