Paul Henderson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed peacefully into eternal life at New York Presbyterian Hospital in the presence of his family on December 9, 2014.
Paul was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 22, 1932 to Robert and Mary Seiler Henderson. He attended Catholic elementary school in Brooklyn until 1946 when he moved to the Ellenville area. During and after graduating from Ellenville High School, he worked in the electrical, plumbing, and heating trades until entering the U.S. Army. After serving in the Army, he worked for IBM in various capacities for 30 years retiring as Staff Facility Engineer. He then worked as a private consultant and also for the Parsons Engineering Company for five years as Principal Electrical Engineer when he finally retired in 1995.
Paul married his high school sweetheart, Adele Brown on September 2, 1952, and blessed their family and community with their 62 years of marriage. Paul is survived by his beloved wife and children: Gregory Henderson, Steven Henderson, Adele and Chuck Barnard, Barbara Henderson, Sherman Richards, Loretta and Charles Sauermelch, Paul Henderson, Jr., Jennifer and Keith Edwards; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and beloved nieces and nephews who were as children to him; and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Godfrey; his brother, Robert J. Henderson; and his grandson, Gabriel Edwards.
Over the years, Mr. Henderson championed various human rights causes, including Respect Life and property rights. Paul previously served on the School Board of the Ellenville School District. He was former Vice Chairman of the Constitution Party of New York, and served as a Presidential Elector for Presidential candidates Thomas Anderson and Michael Peroutka.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 12th at Louck’s Funeral Home, 79 North Main, Ellenville, NY 12428. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13th at St. Mary’s - St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, 137 South Main Street, Ellenville, NY. Interment will follow at Furman Cemetery.
