It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Otto Betancohurt, a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Otto's journey began on April 17, 1936, in Cali, Colombia, where he was born to his loving parents Ramon and Isabel Betancohurt.
Upon arriving in the United States, Otto attended George Washington High School before transferring to McGill University in Montreal, Canada where he not only pursued his studies but also met the love of his life, Louise Betancohurt. She has since predeceased him. He learned to speak French and enjoyed French cuisine.
Otto enjoyed traveling back to his native land of Colombia during the summer season and to his second home in Montreal Canada.
He embarked on a successful career. During the summer months, Otto worked at the Nevele resort, where he enjoyed connecting with people from all walks of life. He eventually purchased a home and moved to the Ellenville area.
His presence will be deeply missed by his surviving family members: his sister's Elia Dionne and Leonor Garcia and his brother Alirio Betancohurt. Additionally, Otto leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews - Sarah, Gabriel, Lynn, Laura, Paul, Ayden, Ian, Elsa, Ana Milena, Jaime, Ivan and Nelson.
