Mary Jane Yonker of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Napanoch, NY passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015. She was 67 years old. Mary Jane was born on October 19, 1947 in Cornwall, NY; she was the daughter of Betty Goldsmith and Jim Brown.
Mary Jane had worked at the Ellenville Press where she was the proofreader for many years and was involved in the day to day processing of the paper. She had also worked with the Village of Ellenville where she was a grant writer and she worked for the Spring Garden Township in Pennsylvania. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mary Jane was a certified lay speaker and no matter where she lived at the time she was very active with the Methodist Church and enjoyed teaching bible school. Nothing was dearer to her than her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
Mary Jane is survived by her son, John A. Yonker Sr. and his girlfriend Maggie Paterno of Ellenville, her grandchildren; John Andrew Yonker Jr. and Madison Jane Yonker, her brothers and sisters; Warren Lee Davis, Randy Smith, Mark Smith, Margaret Smith, Robin Nestley and Bobby Smith. Also surviving are many brothers and sisters from the Brown side of the family who live in Oklahoma.
Besides her birth parents, Mary Jane was predeceased by her adopted parents, Grace Crawford Davis and Warren Worrie Davis.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 2nd at 5:30pm at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 35 Church Street, Napanoch, NY.
