Marie C. Stanger

Marie C. Stanger a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Cragsmoor, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2023 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. She was 100 years old. Marie was born on November 23, 1922 in Monticello, NY; she was the daughter of Calvin and Mary (McQuade) Cantrell.

After graduating High School Marie worked as a buyer for Hammond and Cooke in Monticello. She later held an administrative position at Vista Maria, Daughters of Mary, health of the sick and as Bookkeeper for Superior Fountain Service. Marie had also worked as a receptionist for the Ulster County Mental Health Clinic in Ellenville.

Marie was a member of the Cragsmoor Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Fort Ann, NY and was a faithful communicant of St. Mary and St. Andrew’s Church, Ellenville.

On October 9, 1943 Marie married Vincent P. Stanger at St. Peters Church in Monticello. He passed away in 2010. In addition to her husband, Marie was predeceased by her brother Calvin Cantrell.

Marie is survived by her children; John Stanger, Mary Gaebler, Catherine Duvalle, Cecelia Stevens and Vincent Stanger, II, as well as 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12^th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville, NY. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, July 13^th at St. Mary and St. Andrew’s Church with inurnment immediately following at Fantinekill Cemetery.
