Maria Piatek

Maria Piatek of Wawarsing, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. She was 102 years old. Maria was born on August 5, 1920 in Vovchok, Ukraine; she was the daughter of Hanna and Denis Hordienko.

Maria was a loving mother having raised five children. She was an avid gardener and reader, an expert embroiderer and a great cook. Maria also enjoyed painting.

She is survived by her children, Henry “Hank” Piatek and his wife Tobi, Richard Piatek and his wife Patricia, Bogdan John Piatek and his wife Susan, Zena Cabral and Anna Malka; seven grandchildren, Marcos, Keri, Nicholas, Joanna, Corey, Ashley and Tyler and ten great grandchildren.

Maria was predeceased by her husband Seweryn “Steve” Piatek as well as her sisters, Hanna and Annastasia.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm on Monday, February 27^th at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 Main Street, Ellenville NY.  Burial will immediately follow at Fantinekill Cemetery.
