Kenneth Legrand Cook Sr., “Ken”, of Napanoch, NY, passed away in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old. Born on November 8, 1931 in Ellenville, NY; he was the son of Legrand and Mary Etta (Smith) Cook.
Ken was a graduate of Ellenville High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force and was honorable discharged in 1953. Shortly after he married the love of his life Mary Lucille (Buytkins) Cook. Ken retired from the Woodbourne Correctional Facility in 1991 after 38 years of being a Corrections Officer. He enjoyed woodworking and building model airplanes. Ken was very adventurous and would never miss an opportunity to go on a roller coaster with his grandkids or parasailing with his daughter-in-law. Ken was an all around good guy but most importantly was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all.
In addition to his wife Mary at home, Ken is survived by his children, Kenneth L. Cook Jr., and his wife Pat and Lisa M. Tears and her husband Michael all of Napanoch; his granddaughter, Lynden Cook and her fiancé Eric and his grandson Matthew Cook. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Ken was predeceased by his brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville. A celebration of his life is scheduled for Saturday at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fatinekill Cemetery.
