Juan R. Irizarry

Juan Ruben Irizarry of Ellenville, NY, gracefully departed from this world on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the age of 86. Juan was the cherished third child among his family of twelve siblings. Born in Puerto Rico to Augustin Irizarry and Pura Vargas. He is survived by five of his siblings, the other six preceded him into heaven. Lydia M (Yiya) deceased, Benjamin (Beno) deceased, Liduvina (Judy), Gladys E, Agustin Jr. deceased, Myrna E deceased, Carlos G (Billy) deceased, Edelmiro (Biby), Luz I (Lucy), Jorge I (Bangie) deceased and Luis E (Pen).

Throughout his life's journey, Juan found joy in the simple pleasures. He dedicated himself to a career at Channel Master in Ellenville, later moving to North Carolina where he eventually retired. In his leisure time, he reveled in games of dominos and cards, and found excitement in horse racing.

Juan was a devoted husband to Moraima until her passing. His kindness and strength will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

A loving father, Juan had eight children, three of which predeceased him. Nilsa Velez, Ruben Irizarry, Felix Irizarry (deceased), Awilda Irizarry (deceased), Maritza Lockett, Maribel Lee, Juan Irizarry (deceased), Benjamin Irizarry. Along with Jose Rivera, Carmen Rivera and Rosanna Santisteban whom he loved as his own and called him dad. He was also blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.
 

A Memorial Visitation to honor Juan's life will take place on Saturday, March 30th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville. The Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 pm. May he rest in peace knowing he was cherished by many and left behind a lasting impact.
