John F. Fogarty

November 22, 1933 — October 24, 2024

Spring Glen

John Fogarty of Spring Glenn, NY passed away October 24th, 2024, peacefully in his home at the age of 90. He is survived by his loving wife Sylvia of 47 years, his son John and daughter Peggy, his grandchildren Frankie, Keith and Brittany, and his great grandchildren Dominic, Stevie, Dolly and Lorenzo.

Both he and his wife volunteered for many years at Ellenville Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and were very much a part of their cherished community and were very much loved by their friends and family and those who knew him. He felt great joy and solace in helping others and always went out of his way to be there for others. He was a very modest man of very little words, but his words nonetheless found a way to warm your heart and make you feel like he genuinely cared and were loved. This was undoubtably why so many came to love him so dearly. He abhorred even the slightest hint of any type of gossip and would simply walk away when he suspected it was coming his way; and he had a way of seeing the good in others that were sometimes hard to see.

He loved the beautiful home that he and his wife built on a foundation of love that made ALL feel welcome and cared for when you walked through their doors. The house they bought together became a home that gave witness to his strong proud Irish heritage with pictures and artifacts decorating the home right down to the Irish cap he wore so proudly.

In passing he made it clear he did not want a funeral or wake of any kind, just for his ashes to be spread over the place he called home.

DAD – “May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind always be at your back, May the sunshine warm upon your face, May the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand”.
