Joan A. Ryan

Joan A. Ryan of Ellenville, NY passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Ellenville Regional Hospital. She was 78 years old. Joan was born on August 18, 1939 in Ellenville; she was the daughter of the late Gladys and John Andrew Yerkins Sr.

Following her high school graduation Joan attended Richard the First Beauty School in Kingston where she earned her Beautician’s License. She worked at several salons finishing her career at Hair Lines in Fallsburgh, NY.

Joan enjoyed knitting, bowling, gardening and target shooting. She was a member of the Town of Wawarsing Republican party and attended many of their functions. She spent her winters in Titusville, FL and would return to Ellenville every spring.  Joan was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Robert A. Ryan of Ellenville and Kelly J. Ryan and his wife Tammy of Palentown and Sheryl Frasch; her grandson Luke Ryan and his wife Stephanie; her siblings, Florence Anderson, Arlene Cavazos, Jeanette Waruch, Fred Yerkins, Bonnie VanEtten, Charlotte Newman, and Kathie Hupalo; her companion Douglas Perro as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Arnold S. Ryan; her son, Scott P. Ryan; her sisters, Anna Marie McCarthy and Dolores Samuels and her brother, John Yerkins Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10th from 4-7pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main St. Ellenville. A Celebration of her life will begin at 6:30 that evening. Cremation and burial of her cremains will be private.
