Janice M. Knight

Janice Knight of Ellenville, NY, passed away peacefully in her home on June 14, 2016. She was 58 years old.

Janice was born September 10, 1957 in Castleberry, Alabama; she was the daughter of Frances Gross Brown of Greenfield Park, NY and George V. Brown Sr. of Ellenville, NY.

Janice was a teller at Greenpoint Savings Bank in Brooklyn, NY. Many remember her as the smiling face behind the counter of C & D Deli in Ellenville, NY.

Janice was humble and confident, stubborn and kind, loyal and generous. She had a sharp wit and a contagious, heartwarming laugh.

Janice is predeceased by her mother Frances Gross Brown and her two sisters Ernestine Royster of Monticello, NY and Margaret Moncrease of New Haven, CT.

She is survived by her four children: Vincent Brown of OH, Frances Brown of Kingston, NY, Marilyn Knight of Bath, NY and Rosetta Knight of Irving, TX, and her grandchild Vincent Brown Jr. of Kingsland, TX.  Janice is also survived by her siblings, Clarence E. Brown and wife Cateena Foster Brown of Atlanta, GA, George V. Brown Jr. and wife Angie of Brooklyn, Sarah C. Brown of Irving, TX, Patricia C. Brown of Middletown, NY, Thomas L. Brown of Poughkeepsie, NY, Larry D. Brown of San Diego, CA, Byron O. Brown and wife Anu of Bronx, NY and Gloria Thompson and husband Greg of West Haven, CT. Her Aunt Phyllis Gross Middleton of Brewton, AL. Also several cousins, several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Janice encountered and overcame many challenges in her lifetime. Her legacy and stories will live on in her family and friends.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd from 4-7pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St.,  Ellenville, NY.
