Evelyn Behme Caruso, a life long resident of the area passed away on December 20, 2014. She was 86 years old. Evelyn was born on May 8, 1928 in Montela, NY; she was the daughter of Frederick and Bertha (Clark) Behme.
Evelyn had worked as a bus driver for the Ellenville Central Schools. She was a faithful parishioner of the Ellenville Dutch Reformed Church, the past president and treasurer for the Shongum Shockers and a member of the Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club. Evelyn enjoyed camping, traveling and being a friend to everyone she met.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Rickey Caruso and his wife Piper of Kerhonkson and her daughter, Linda Baldwin of Canastota, NY; her brother, William Behme of Wallingford, CT; her sister Catherine “Kay” Hull of Ellenville; her grandchildren, Heather, Heidi and Holly; four great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Enrico Caruso, her sister Mae Krom, her son-in-law Bob Baldwin and her granddaughter Olivia.
Visiting will be held on Friday, December 26th from 2-4 and 7-9 at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville. A celebration of her life is scheduled for Saturday at 10am at the funeral home with burial following at Fantinekill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Evelyn’s name to the Ellenville Reformed Church, 188 Canal St., Ellenville, NY 12428 or the Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club, P.O. Box 305, Napanoch, NY 12458.
