Libby Gordon passed away July, 28, 2021 at her home after a long battle of undiagnosed cancer. She was 74. Libby was the daughter of Genevieve Knowles and Miguel Parra. She was born February 23, 1947 in Caracas, Venezuela.
To know Libby was to love her. She was the most kind, caring and loving soul. She loved life and woke up each morning thankful and blessed. Libby’s primary occupation was working as a Family Care Provider for OPWDD since March 17, 1978 caring for individuals with developmental disabilities. This was not considered work for her as it was her passion in life, helping others and all the individuals became our family. While caring for a family of 10, she earned her Bachelor's Degree from New Paltz in 1993. In addition, she also worked at Ellenville Day Hab from 2001-2003 as a Vocational Coordinator for Pilot Industries from 2003-2012.
Libby’s house was the Hickory Street staple for kids growing up in the neighborhood. There was always an extra plate at dinner and we played outside till dusk. Libby would say greener pastures when she had enough of the shenanigans lol and everyone knew it was time to leave. Her love of gardening can be seen on any given day, tendering it with love and admired by all. She also was an avid reader and Netflix binge watcher.
Libby was predeceased by her husband and soulmate, Ronald A. Gordon and her beloved eldest son, Anthony J. Gordon; her mother, Genevieve Knowles; brother, William Dorsey; sister Janet Parra and nephew, Glen Welch.
She is survived by her son, Michael L. Gordon and daughter-in-law Rosanna; daughter, Kelly J. Gordon and son-in-law Thomas Sheremetta; grandchildren, Christian Cherry, Melonie Gordon, Michael Gordon, Maddison Gordon, Michaella Gordon, Kiley Sheremetta, Analese Dumond, Audreyanna Gordon; great granddaughter, Aliana Cherry; brothers, Luis Parra, James Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey; nieces and nephews, Christina Welch, Yvette Strange, Kennedy Strange, Hallie Strange, Brittany Tatum, Trey Dorsey and Meghan Dorsey, Lee, Stacie and Jamie Lippman.
My brother and I lost the most important woman in our lives, our rock. The world will be less bright without you in it. We are glad you are no longer suffering and at peace Ma. Keep looking over us and fly high with all our lost loved ones.

Refrain from sadness when I'm gone
Don't grieve too much because I passed
I’m free from restraints at last
My soul remains to travel on
So please refrain from sadness when I am gone
Don't grieve too much because I passed
This is your time to celebrate
And think of me as being free
So think of me as lovingly
As you love each other
