Elba Iris Alverez Cruz

Elba Iris Alverez Cruz of Woodridge, NY passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022. She was 80 years old. Elba was born on August 2, 1941 in Ponce, Puerto Rico and was the daughter of the late Pedro and Beatrice (Rivera) Alverez.

Elba was a longtime area resident and devoted mother to her family. She had worked at Schrade as a Machinist for over 30 years retiring in1998. She was an active member of the Hosanna Assembly of God Church in Ellenville for 50 years. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Elba is survived by her children, Victor Aponte (Sormaria), Angelo Cruz (Melissa), Wanda Cruz and Alphonso Cruz (Nellisa); her daughter-in-law, Maria Aponte; her grandchildren, Linda Acevedo, Tyronn Mitchell, Aliene Aponte, Amanda Aponte, Alphonso Cruz Jr, Tatiana Cruz, Christepher Sanchez, Jamary Nunez, Rachael Snyder and Jude; and her great grandchildren, Crystal Acevedo, Serinity Acevedo, Joshua Reese, Ocean Rose Marriott, Daisy Sanchez, Michael Burns and Leon Bodhi.

Besides her parents, Elba was predeceased by her son Peter Aponte.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26th from 11am to 1pm at the Hosanna Assembly of God Church, 178 Canal St., Ellenville. The funeral service will begin at 1pm at the church. Burial will follow in the Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.
