Edmund Harvey Van Sleet, of Napanoch, a 60- year area resident, died Thursday May 30, 2013, at Ferncliff Nursing Home. He was 86.
The son of the late Edward P. and Laura B. Powling Van Sleet, he was born February 6, 1927, in Bridgeport, CT.
He was retired from Carpenters Local Union 279, a U.S. Army World War II Veteran, a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, and a life member of the Napanoch Fire Company.
Survivors include his children: Daniel Van Sleet of North Fort Myers, FL, June Boucher of Farmington, Cheryl Guiditta of Olivebridge, Bettie Brown of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Dawn Munley of Lake Katrine, James Van Sleet of Hudson, FL, John Van Sleet of Portsmouth, VA, Audrey Lynn of Grahamsville, Gwen Perry of Wawarsing, Wayne Van Sleet of Seminary, MS; a sister, Shirley Van Sleet of Stratford CT; 39 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Gaynor; daughter, Marge North; granddaughter, Miranda North; great-great-granddaughter, Bristol Cain; sister, Ruth Van Sleet and brother, Edward Van Sleet.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 5th, at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 No. Main Street, Ellenville. Firematic Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5th. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6th, at the funeral home. Pastor Robert Genevicz of the Stratford Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.
