Douglas Lee Smith was born on June 30, 1944 in Ellenville, New York to father Earl S. Smith and mother Clara Etta Cook. Doug passed away at the Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation in Kingston, New York on October 1, 2024. Doug suffered from a long bout with Parkinson’s disease.

Douglas attended the Ellenville school system. He worked for the Victory Market on North Main St. in Ellenville and the Ellenville Knife Factory. He was a lifelong resident of the Kerhonkson and Wawarsing area.

Douglas never married, he leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as a few cousins in the area.

Douglas was proceeded by his parents, Earl Smith, and Clara Cook, as well as a brother Donald Smith of Carrollton, Georgia. He had one sister Nancy Smith of Napanoch. Douglas is survived by his brother-in-law Leonard Quick Sr. of Napanoch.

Doug requested that there only be graveside services which will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Fantinekill Cemetery. Douglas will be laid to rest next to his mother Clara Smith.
