Doris Bertha Hall, of Napanoch, NY peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 16, 2019. She was 95 ¾ years old. Doris was born January 21, 1924 in Highland, NY; the daughter of the late Winslow and Bertha (Veres) VanLeuven.
Doris’ family were one of the original Trapps people and huckleberry pickers in the area. As a young woman she worked at Macy’s in New York City, Channel Master and Imperial Schrade in Ellenville and also spent sometime working in the Pentagon. On September 14, 1952 Doris married William L. Hall at Ellenville, NY and they began raising a family. William has since predeceased her. Doris was a communicant of St. Mary and St. Andrew’s Church. She loved reading, going for walks and was an Avid Mets fan. Her greatest joys in life came from spending time with her family and her friends.
Doris will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her children, Patricia Vargas and her husband Jose of Wawarsing, NY, Joanne Stalter of Napanoch, William Hall and his wife Alice of Nedrow, NY and Suzanne Henry and her husband Neal of Walden, NY; her sister, Alice Bradshaw of the state of Florida; her sister-in-law, Marie VanLeuven of Ellenville; her grandchildren, Jose Vargas Jr. (Maria Alicia), Jennifer Neos (William), William Simpson (Ashley), Anthony Henry (Jessica), Stacy Henry and Jason Henry and her great-grandchildren, Kyle, Karl, Hannah, Sawyer, Joshua and Mackayla. Also surviving are her caregivers Monica and April as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Doris was predeceased by her son, Francis, her son-in-law, Kevin Stalter; brothers, Richard and Roger VanLeuven and her sister, Ethel Bittner
Visiting will be held on Thursday, November 21st from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, November 22nd at St. Mary and St. Andrew’s Church. Burial will follow in Fantinekill Cemetery.
