Donald Lewis

March 20, 1926 – November 16, 2014

Donald Lewis, of Ellenville, a retired Schrade supervisor of 42 years died at Ellenville Regional Hospital on November 16, 2014. He was the son of the late Emery and Jeanette Markle Lewis.

Don was past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #1971 and a member of the Masonic Lodge #627 and a lifetime member of the Pioneer Engine Company. Don was a decorated WWII veteran and was the recipient of 2 silver stars.

He is survived by his wife Joan of 43 years, his sons Stephen Lewis of Lehigh Acres, FL, Ronald Conklin of Orland, FL, Scott Conklin of Topeka, KS, and daughters Debbie Vasquez of AZ, Vicki Forgette of Ellenville and Sherry Prokos of New Milford, CT. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his life long friends Al North Sr. and Butch Distel.

Memorial contributions in Don’s name can be made to Pioneer Engine Co., 73 Center St., Ellenville, NY 12428 or a charity of one’s choice.

As per Don’s wishes there will be no services and cremation will be private.
