Dennis J. Warner

May 2, 1943 — November 3, 2013

Dennis J Warner, on-air personality, retired teacher, mentor and all around good guy, died early Sunday morning in Ellenville, N.Y.

Born on May 2, 1943 in the farm country of Deposit NY to Clayton and Marge Warner, Dennis is survived by countless friends and family. Among them are Iris his wife of 38 years, son Jesse, daughter Cara Anne (Manny) Jones, and his grandsons, Emmanuel and Elijah. He is also survived by his mother Marge, brother Clayton Jr., sister Ann and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

An old school hippy that made good in a small town, Dennis helped to start the Ellenville High School radio station, WELV 107.9, upon his retirement from academia. As any guest on “Dennis in the Morning” could attest to, he had the ability to speak with anybody and make them feel as if they were talking to their best friend and confidant.

Dennis never had a student or colleague he didn’t have time for. He was and still is truly a friend to many, many people in the Ellenville community. He will be missed by all of the people who inhabit this valley and his favorite planet.

Services for Dennis will be held on Thursday November 7, at 1:00 PM at the St. John’s Memorial Episcopal Church on Market Street in Ellenville. Burial will be at the Workman’s Circle Cemetery in Oak Ridge immediately following. A repast will be held at Unity Hall at Ulster Correctional Facility at 4:00 P.M. for all to come and celebrate Dennis’ life.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Ellenville Central School attn: Dennis Warner Memorial Scholarship Fund, 28 Maple Ave., Ellenville, NY 12428
