It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Debra L. Streczyk, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and beloved member of the Ellenville community. Born on July 27, 1954, in Vernon, New Jersey, Debra brightened the lives of those around her with her compassionate spirit, vibrant personality, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Debra was the daughter of Judson Davenport and Marjorie L. (McCarrick) Davenport, who preceded her in death but instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and generosity. Throughout her life, Debra embodied these qualities while adding her own unique spark—she was feisty, strong-willed, fun-loving, and deeply caring. Above all, Debra was extraordinarily generous, always giving selflessly to those in need, whether through acts of kindness or steadfast support for causes close to her heart. Her giving nature touched the lives of so many and will remain a shining example of love in action.
Debra is survived by her devoted daughter, Jessica Welsh, of Monticello, New York, and her loving son, Gregg Kraeft, of Milford, Pennsylvania. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, whose unwavering love, guidance, and presence shaped the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchild, who adored her. Debra was also deeply loved and survived by seven siblings, along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who were fortunate to know her and feel the warmth of her care. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Philip Streczyk, whose memory she carried with her every day, and by one sister, whose recent passing deeply affected her.
Debra passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, in her residence in Ellenville, New York, surrounded by the love of her family. Her loss is deeply felt, but her legacy of love, strength, and extraordinary generosity will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A private service will be held to honor Debra’s remarkable life and reflect on the countless memories she created.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Debra’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization she supported for many years. Her extraordinary generosity and commitment to helping others will continue to make an impact through this meaningful cause.
As we remember Debra, let us celebrate her for the vibrant, generous, and loving person she was. Her warmth and compassion brought people together, and her unwavering dedication to her family was a testament to her beautiful soul. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
