Daniel L. Johnson

Daniel L. Johnson of Ellenville, N.Y. a lifelong resident of the area, died Thursday, October 26, 2023. He was 65. The first child of the late John E. Johnson and Judith A. Johnson was born June 17, 1958 in Ellenville. 

Above all else, Dan was a devoted family man. He was the fifth generation in the lumber and building materials industry, proudly identifying with this legacy. In his youth, he was the owner of several local businesses, including Marvin Millwork, The Bargain Bin, and Cross Lumber. In his later years, he served as a dedicated salesman for Williams Lumber. When he wasn't at work, he cherished moments spent with his family, on the golf course, or at the church. He was a longstanding member of the Ellenville Reformed Church, where he not only served as an elder but also was a devout member of the choir. His commitment extended to various community roles, including being a member of the Wawarsing Masonic Lodge #582 for 27 years, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a board member of the Fantinekill Cemetery Association, and several years of service as a town councilman. He was a beloved and dedicated member of the community.

Dan is remembered with love and is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy. He leaves behind a cherished family, including his children Daniel E. Johnson, and his wife Samantha, Sarah B. Martino and her husband Jeff, William L. Johnson and his wife Zaida, and Sandra A. Lawrence and her husband Howard. Dan's extended family also includes his stepchildren, Katarina Ioanna and Christina Stoddard and her husband Chandler. His sisters, Amy Johnson and her husband Andy Talbot, and Meredith VanEtten and her husband Dave, were an important part of his life. He was formerly married to Debra Wallack. Dan's legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren: Noah, Nathaniel, Kayden, Charlotte, Clarissa, Harper, Melody, Jeffrey, Hazel, Penelope, and Zofia.

In his last moments, Dan said, “Love conquers all. We will all walk together soon.”

For those wishing to pay their respects, you may call at Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., 79 N. Main St., Ellenville, N.Y. on Sunday, October 29, 2023 2-5 p.m. during which there will be a masonic service at 4 p.m. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 30 at the Ellenville Reformed Church, 188 Canal St., Ellenville, N.Y., with Mary Collier officiating. Burial will be in the Fantinekill Cemetery.
