Daniel Bishuk Sr.

Daniel Bishuk Sr. died on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY after a long illness. He was 80 years old. Daniel was born in Astoria, Queens, NY on September 7, 1932, where he lived much of his early life.

He married his wife, Catherine in 1958 and has two sons, John of Astoria, NY and Daniel Jr. of Auburn, NY. In 1969, he moved to Ulster Heights, NY where he lived for the remainder of his life.

During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge in 1954, he served four years as a machinist at the New York Naval Shipyard in Brooklyn, NY, after which he began his 30 year career with New York Telephone, NYNEX and Verizon.

Daniel was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and the American Legion in Ellenville, NY. His favorite life activities included dancing in the John Flis Ukrainian Folk Dance Group where he met his wife Catherine, and participating in Arts and Crafts shows with Catherine promoting their Ukraininan egg (Pysanky) business. He was and avid baseball fan and loved the New York Mets. He was also a model railroad enthusiast.

He was predeceased by his parents, mother, Sadie and father, Mack Bisuick of Astoria, NY; step mother, Julia and step-father, Stanley Krywen of Astoria, NY, and infant son, Robert.

Surviving family include wife, Catherine, of Ellenville, NY; son, John of Astoria, NY and son, Daniel Jr., and his wife, Mary and grand-children, Andrew and Skyler of Auburn, NY.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 9th at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY 12428 from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, April 10th at St. Mary's St. Andrews Church, State Route 209, Ellenville, NY 12428 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Pine Bush Cemetery in Kerhonkson, NY.
