Cristina Martinez-Alvarado

Cristina Martinez-Alvarado of Ellenville, NY passed away on Sunday February 16, 2025, with her family by her side. She was 80 years old. Cristina was born on March 9, 1944, in Puerto Rico to Rosario Montero and Anastacio Perez. 

Cristina was a faithful communicant of St. Mary and St. Andrew’s Church. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who touched the lives of many. Cristina dedicated her career to JM Originals in Ellenville, where she poured her heart and soul into her work. However, her true passion was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, and her Sunday Suppers at home became a cherished tradition that brought everyone together. Known for her rice and beans, her warmth and generosity extended beyond her household as she often prepared meals for friends and neighbors.

Cristina is survived by her children: Luis Angel Roman, his wife Carmela, and their children Angel and Adrian Roman.; Juan Jose Roman, his wife Maria, and their children Johnathon and Brianna Roman and Jasmine and Ray Colon.; Nancy Ramos, her husband Edwin, and their children Jeanine Serrano, Cynthia Cornelius and Edwin Ramos Jr.; Marco Roman, his wife Ellen and their children James, Daniel and Nicolas Tucker; Lourdes Torres, her husband Manuel, and their children Cristina and Joseph Torres. Also surviving are siblings, Luisa Martinez and Anadel Lara as well as many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, including Sara Gutierres and Noelia Melendez. 

She was predeceased by her infant son, Jose Luis Roman and sons Carlos and Anastacio Roman; her siblings, Carmen Lamberti, Irma Robles, David Melendez and Maria Morales.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 22nd from 10am-12pm, with formal service at 12pm at Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville, NY. Burial immediately to follow at Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville, NY.
