Carol A. Olszanecki of Middletown, NY, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. She was 73 years old. Carol was born on December 22, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY; she was the daughter of the late George Turner and Grace (Worsley) Jackson.
Carol had worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Ellenville School District until her retirement in 2008. Her passion in life was helping veterans. Carol was a founding member of the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Association. She had spent many years advocating for federal legislation to reinstate VA benefits for Blue Water Navy veterans who served during the Vietnam War. She organized regular “Stand Down” events where she not only helped provide food, clothing and health screenings to homeless and at-risk Veterans, but she also helped veterans navigate the VA system getting them the assistance they deserve.
In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband John L. Olszanecki in 2002 and her son Christopher M. Olszanecki in 2015.
Surviving is her daughter Michele Olszanecki and her partner Roger D’Amalio; grandchildren, Alexandria, Dean, Cheyenne and Chase and her brothers as well as many dear friends.
Visiting will be held on Wednesday, June, 23rd from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville.
