Carol Ann Distel of Ellenville, NY, passed away at Kingston Hospital on Monday, May 15, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was 76 years old. Carol was born on October 15, 1940 in Suffern, NY; she was the daughter of John and Madeline (Langdon) Goetschius.
Carol had worked as a Legal Secretary for Lonstein Law Offices in Ellenville for over 40 years. She also filled in as a substitute at the Ellenville Central School Offices when needed. Carol was a past Ellenville Central School Board Member, the Past President of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a former Columbiette – Ladies Auxiliary Member in Saugerties and she was a communicant of St. Mary and St. Andrew’s Church in Ellenville.
She is survived by her husband Bruce Distel whom she married on April 23, 1967; their children, Kathleen (Joe) Masiello of Walden, John (Daniella) Distel of Frederick, MD, Colleen (Justin) Smith of Harrisburg, PA and Danny Distel of Tampa, FL; her brother John Goetschius of Hurleyville, sister-in-law Valerie Goetschius of Napanoch; grandsons, Kellin and Landin as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her brother Richard Goetschius.
Visiting will be held on Thursday, May 18th from 4-8pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, 10am at St. Mary and St. Andrew’s Church, Ellenville. Burial will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery.
