Betty Garritt

Betty Garritt, age 78 passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. She was born February 7, 1940 and raised by Beatrice and Emmet VanDermark.  

Betty grew up in Ulster County where she attended Kingston High school and met the love of her life, Bruce Garritt. They raised their three children in Cragsmoor, NY who each went on to marry and bless the couple with six grandchildren.  

Betty truly enjoyed life to the fullest. She would be the first person on the dance floor at any special occasion, enjoyed vacationing at the 1000 Islands surrounded by her kids, and loved attending and supporting all her grandchildren’s endeavors. Anyone who crossed Betty’s path would describe her as kind, loving, and genuine.  

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bruce; sons Bruce, David, and Carl; daughters-in law, Karen, Sonia, and Pam; and grandchildren, Jason, Whitney, Justin, Taylor, Victoria, and Elaina.  

Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 20th from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St. Ellenville. A Celebration of Betty’s life will begin at 1:30 that afternoon. All are encouraged to share a memory of Betty. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Betty’s name to The ALS Association who was supportive of the family the past three years.
