August A. Hull, Sr. of Ellenville passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Montgomery Nursing Home. He was 89. He was the son of the late Chauncey and Vice Mae Purcell Hull, born on August 3, 1924 in Ellenville, NY.
Gus proudly served our Country in the National Guard during World War II. He worked as the Superintendent of the Town of Wawarsing Highway Department for over 20 years. He was a past Trustee of the Wawarsing Masonic Lodge #582 F&AM, lifetime member of Kimbell Hose; and was a honorary member of the Napanoch Fire Department. He was a lifetime member of the Ulster Heights Rod and Gun Club, charter member of the Ellenville First Aid Squad, member of the Ellenville Elks Lodge # 1971 and of the Ellenville VFW 1455. For many years Gus served on the Town Board, managed Gus Hull Salvage and he was an Elder and Deacon of the Ellenville Reformed Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all that knew and loved him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Anna Marval Hull of 65 years; his children: August Skip Hull Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Napanoch, Marva Connor and her husband, Dennis of Napanoch, Jolie Hull of Nevada, Randy Scott Hull of Florida; ten grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his siblings: Ruby Hull and his wife, Kay, Bobby Hull and his wife, Rosie, Patty McCarthy, Jessie Smith, Muriel Giorgianni and her husband, Frank, Warren Hull and his wife Edie, Joey Hull and his wife Donna and Charmion Stewart and her husband, John; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings: Floyd and John Hull, Mary Yerkes, Evelyn and Ruth Matthews.
Visitation will be on held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 4th at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main St., Ellenville NY 12428. There will be a Masonic Service followed by an Elks service at the funeral home starting at 12:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Ellenville Reformed Church, 188 Canal St., Ellenville; Rev. Jay Vogelaar will officiate. Interment will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gus’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
