Aletta “Letty” A. Hornsberger, a longtime resident of Hurley, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly at St. Peter’s Hospital on Nov. 24, 2017. She was 73 years old.
Letty was born in Ellenville, N.Y. on April 17, 1944 and attended public school throughout the town. She attended Champlain College in Burlington, Vt.
Letty worked at United Healthcare, formerly MetLife, as a customer service trainer for over 35 years. Upon retirement, Letty loved spending time with family and friends. She was a longtime active member of the Hurley Heritage Society and would look forward to sharing her love of history with others while working at the museum. She loved being outdoors and was an avid gardener.
She loved spending time with her grandkids, whether traveling to Connecticut or having them come up to Hurley. Her grandchildren were her life.
She was predeceased by her parents Salvatore and Helen Spadaro of Ellenville, first husband Albert Pinkerous of Ellenville and husband Frank Hornsberger of Hurley. She is survived by her sister Charlotte Van Sleet of Hudson, Fla.; her brothers John Spadaro of Hudson, Fla., Eugene Spadaro of Cooper City, Fla., Steve Spadaro of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Sidney and Anthony Spadaro of Lexington, S.C., and James Spadaro of Weare, N.H.; her daughter Elizabeth Silverfarb of Fairfield, Conn. and step-daughters Linda Hornsberger of Winter Garden, Fla. and Lori Hornsberger of Falmouth, Mass. Her grandchildren were Connor and Lucas Silverfarb, C.J., Kane Lisiecki and Sawyer Fallin-Hornsberger. She also enjoyed spending time with her many nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4 at Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville, N.Y.
