Agnes Josephine Porter Conner, a longtime resident of Ellenville, went home to the lord surrounded by her family on August 28, 2014. She was 80 years old. Born on September 18, 1933 to Archie and Eva (Irwin) Porter in Hancock, NY
Agnes was a member of the Cook Taylor American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a communicant of St. Mary and St. Andrew’s Church. She worked as a waitress at Schipps Diner, The Wayside Inn, several Delicatessens in Ellenville and the Marine Room before becoming a Crossing Guard and Greeter at the Ellenville Central Schools. She enjoyed bowling and dancing, but more importantly her family was her life.
She is survived by her loving husband and soul mate Robert Conner Sr. whom she married on September 3, 1950; her children, Kathleen (Clearwater) Williams, Bonnie Carpenter, Agnes Gath Vesely and Robert Conner Jr.; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Agnes was predeceased by her daughter Pamela Jean Conner, her sisters Beverly, Doris, Bernice, Ruth and Patricia Porter and her brother Edward Porter.
Visiting will be held on Monday, September 1st from 5-9pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 am at St. Mary and St. Andrew’s Church. Burial will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery.
